Diseño En Femenino - Flight 2 Design and Technology visit to the Museo Franz Mayer
Students in Design and Technology are currently in the process of generating a design focus for their major project; so with this in mind we went downtown to The Franz Mayer museum for some creative inspiration. We started our visit in the main courtyard with a guided tour explaining the fascinating history of the museum building before moving through to the exhibition.
Diseno en Femenino is a curation of selected Mexican female designers spanning from 1940-2022. The exhibition displays works from four generations of female designers. Work by international designers who have further developed their practice in Mexico are also part of the exhibition. There was a wide range of textiles, graphics, jewellery, animation, literature, photography and interior design.
"I really enjoyed the textile designs and the fabrics created from recycled materials"
"The building is an incredible space to display work".
Next steps are for our students to embark on creating their own design philosophies. Hopefully some of them will be inspired by the selection of pieces that were on display.
